Thoroughbreds and driving horses
Two very different jobs, and two very different rides. Here is what each one is good for, so you can work out which one you are actually looking for.
Thoroughbred
Bred at Nearaway since 1975. Racing first, then eventing, jumping, or hunting.
Athleticism, stamina, and heart
Thoroughbreds are mainly known for their racing ability, but they can be used for many other disciplines. They excel in three day eventing and jumping because of their athleticism, stamina, and heart.
They are also the breed we have bred here the longest. Tiger One and Sloopy both came off this farm, and both found their real careers after racing rather than during it.
Driving horses
Any breed can drive. Pleasure Driving and Combined Driving, ponies and very small equines included.
Pleasure Driving and Combined Driving
Driving horses can be any breed. They can be used for Pleasure Driving or Combined Driving, and ponies and very small equines are used for driving as well. Combined Driving asks for a more athletic horse than Pleasure Driving does.
Astrid Fallon competes in both Pleasure Driving and Driven Dressage, so driving is taught here rather than tolerated.
